SERVICES:

      Freshmen and Sophomore Years:

         Though the college search and application program begins in earnest junior year, it can be helpful to start as early as freshman year. This is a good time to help students build their high school educational plans and extracurricular activities that maximize their talents and interests.

         This will provide an opportunity to get to know students, their passions and their academic aspirations and capabilities. We will also begin planning for standardized tests, either the ACT or the SAT.

      Junior Year Program: Building the college application list to find the best fit colleges.

     In-depth meetings to assess the student’s academic capabilities, interests and passions, as well as gathering information from the parents. This includes financial needs.

·      Administer You Science assessment to assess student’s aptitudes and interests and look at potential college majors and careers.

·      Generate a list of good fit colleges taking into account student goals and interests and the family’s financial targets.

·      Research individual colleges with the student.

·      Help families plan for college visits over spring break and/or summer break.

·      Recommend appropriate standardized tests, including the ACT, SAT and APs.

·      Plan appropriate courses for senior year.

·      Plan activities for summer.

·      Help students identify good teacher recommenders.

·      Meet with families if they’ve done college visits to further hone the college list.

·      Begin work on college application essays (much of which will be done during the summer between junior and senior year).

 

    Senior Year Program: Essays and Application Completion

 ·      Finalize college list.

·      Assist students with all essays, including supplemental essays.

·      Meet regularly throughout the fall to complete each college application, finishing all applications before winter break.

·      Assist families with financial aid applications.

·      Review all applications before they’re sent.

·      Prepare students for interviews.

·      Provide guidance on final decisions as needed.

·      Advise on the transition to the first year of college.
